Sebagai penyanyi Avril telah merilis album, Let Go (2001-2003), Under My Skin (2004-2006), The Best Damn Thing (2007–Sekarang). Penyanyi berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat yang pandai memainkan piano ini, mengawali menulis lagu sejak usia remaja, debut albumnya, Butterflyz, adalah hasil karyanya sendiri ketika masih berusia 14 tahun.

Dengan mengusung genre musik elektronika, album ini mendapat respon positif dari kritikus musik dunia. Bahkan single Just Dance mendapatkan nominasi untuk Best Dance Recording di ajang Grammy Awards.

Single kedua yang dirilis dari album THE FAME, Poker Face pada 29 September 2008 dan berhasil menjadi nomor satu di enam negara.
